EducationWestern Washington University - BA Mathematics, BS Physics, Mathematics and Physics
ExperienceI am a recent graduate of Western Washington University, where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Physics and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics. While a college student, I worked as a physics lab teaching assistant for a number of introductory physics courses. I have also been providing private tutoring for the past year, working with students in precalculus, calculus, and algebra. My tutoring background includes teaching students from sixth grade up through college graduates. College or high school students who have developed an interest in one particular aspect of physics or math are the demographics that I work best with, but I also enjoy helping students who are still trying to find their place in the academic world. In addition, I enjoy helping students who do not like math, but are taking required courses to succeed in their studies. My approach to tutoring is to take a wide view, sometimes attempting to solve a problem using more than one method. Answering a question correctly does not necessarily mean the student has thought about the problem in the correct way. I encourage students to talk through each step while solving a problem.I teach elementary math, middle school math, algebra, calculus, differential equations, geometry, precalculus, statistics, trigonometry, physics, astronomy, multivariable calculus, arithmetic, finite mathematics, pre-algebra, and discrete math.In addition to teaching, I am interested in gravity, math problems, playing guitar, reading, playing board games, watching interesting TV shows, and conversing with friends.
